#25: Sanremo, Italy
Sanremo had music, casinos, sea air, and the polished charm of the Italian Riviera. Its famous song festival helped draw European pop culture attention, while its coastal hotels and gaming rooms appealed to industrial heirs, entertainers, and travelers who liked their leisure with a soundtrack. It was not as mythic as Saint-Tropez or as royal as Monaco, but that was part of its appeal. Sanremo was glamour with a microphone and a sea view.
