#18: Card Sharks (1978)
If you’ve ever tried your hand at predicting the face of the next card by betting whether it would be higher or lower, you’re familiar with the rules of Card Sharks. This game show was hosted by Jim Perry and featured contestants who attempted to find their way through a row of playing cards to win cash and prizes.
The tension of each flip, paired with the simplicity of the game, was what appealed to viewers. Would the next card be the one to end your streak? Would it get you closer to victory? The show was a staple of late 70s and early 80s TV, and remains an iconic game show for good reason. Sometimes the simplest concepts are the most fun.
