#17: Wooden Furniture Does Not Stop Machine Gun Fire (Mr and Mrs Smith, 2005)
Characters regularly hide behind wooden desks, dining tables, or doors while exchanging sustained automatic gunfire. In reality, most wooden furniture offers concealment rather than meaningful protection. High-velocity rifle rounds easily penetrate ordinary wood and continue traveling with dangerous energy. Only dense materials such as concrete, thick steel, or specially designed ballistic barriers reliably stop such ammunition. Using a household table as complete cover would provide very little real safety. The illusion persists because audiences instinctively recognize furniture as something solid.
