Don’t Buy Expensive Presents Anymore!
In spite of what you may believe, the president is not a frequent recipient of costly presents from the CEOs of other firms or their supporters. There are rigorous procedures in place to prevent anybody from accepting such presents. The National Archives must receive any contributions that are worth more than #375 in 2016.
If the president receives anything of lesser worth, it might be kept as a “souvenir or token of politeness” by him. In order to deliver the Bulgarian sheepdog he got as a present to a friend in Maryland, former President George W. Bush had to spend his own money.
