A Secure Line Is Essential
Every phone call made by the President while he is in the Oval Office must be made over a secure line. In both corporate and personal contexts, no one should be able to take any action in response to any call made by the President.
National security would be jeopardized if the President’s talks were readily intercepted. To be on the safe side, all incoming and outgoing calls are routed via a government-monitored and protected secure line.
