Despite the fact that it was obvious that Brooke’s mother was in a state of extreme terror, she was aware that she could not afford to panic. After all, her daughter’s life was in jeopardy, and in order to keep her daughter out of harm’s way, she needed to maintain her composure and think on her feet.
If Brooke had seen how terrified her mother actually was, she might have become overly anxious and done something irrational, such as touch the snake or make a sudden movement. As a result, she summoned all of her self-control and simply instructed Brooke to approach her. But Brooke’s mother warned her, so would she listen to her and make it to safety?
