#16: Giorgio Moroder
When people talk about music sounding ahead of its time, Giorgio Moroder almost always enters the conversation. His collaborations with Donna Summer, especially “I Feel Love,” helped push disco toward a synthetic, hypnotic future that would echo through synth-pop, Hi-NRG, house, and electronic dance music. There was a pulse in his records, of course, but there was also a clean, mechanized glide that felt startlingly modern.
