White Lies
Emotions can be hard, right? It’s challenging to navigate our feelings, let alone someone else’s. Things can get extra tricky when dealing with kids’ emotions, as they are not very aware of them yet, and often don’t know how to control or express them appropriately. It makes sense why some parents get scared and decide to take the “easy route” by ignoring or dismissing their children’s emotions without thinking about the consequences.

Telling some white lies here and there is honestly a parent survival tactic – we can’t tell our kids the truth about everything, can we? But we do owe them honesty; after all, lying just for the sake of lying can do more harm than good, and not trusting our children with the truth about essential things in their lives can make them feel disregarded and not valued.
