Is It Too Late Now to Say Sorry?
Historically, parents were always afraid that saying, “I’m sorry,” would make them look weak or take away their authority. Many parents are strict with teaching their children to apologize, but they rarely do the same or set an example. Getting worked up is normal, especially in the heat of an argument, but learning to apologize for it shows real strength.
Even though many parents think that apologizing to their kids might make them look weak, research shows it has the opposite effect; it actually makes parents look strong. It shows that they care enough to take responsibility for their harmful actions and make amends.
