Smother Mother
The typical smothering mother feels the need to control or be involved in every aspect of her child’s life, which can often lead her to abandon her own interests for the sake of this mission. Even though these mothers mean well, specialists say the consequences of smothering a child are similar to the ones of child neglect.
Emotionally smothered kids can suffer from low self-esteem, self-doubt, and dependence on others. Children of overbearing mothers may grow up to be entitled and struggle to complete things on their own or learn to problem-solve. While it’s hard as a kid to set boundaries with our parents, it’s never too late to establish healthier limits in the relationship.
