#13: The “Poisoned City Water Supply” Broadcast (1996)
In 1996, a couple of radio hosts in Texas played on one of our most basic fears: that the water from the tap isn’t safe. They reported that local water treatment facilities had been compromised by a deadly biological agent. Their advice was simple, people should stop drinking the tap water immediately. The resulting stampede on grocery stores cleared shelves of bottled water and caused severe supply shortages.
