#17: The “Missing Airliner” Crisis Report (1958)
A radio news team in 1958 decided to air a dramatic re-enactment of a commercial airliner vanishing over the Bermuda Triangle. The problem was, they presented it as if the event were happening live, and it sounded like a real-time crisis. Worried relatives of people they believed were on the flight overwhelmed airline switchboards and local airports looking for information. The chaos was so intense that the Federal Aviation Administration demanded the station immediately remove the tape.
