#21: Sloths Can Hold Their Breath Longer Than Dolphins
Sloths can hold their breath underwater for up to 40 minutes, far surpassing dolphins, who can hold their breath for about 10 minutes. They have an incredibly slow metabolism, which allows them to reduce their heart rate by more than two-thirds and hold their breath for an extended period. Despite their slow nature on land, sloths can swim three times faster than they move on the ground, aided by their gas-filled stomachs that keep them buoyant.
