#10: The Einstein-Besso Manuscript (1913–1914)
Einstein and his engineer friend Michele Besso filled these 54 pages with calculations as Einstein worked toward his general theory of relativity. Einstein destroyed most of his drafts, making this one of only two working documents from that process to survive. Besso kept it. It sold at Christie’s Paris in November 2021 for $13 million, setting a record as the most expensive scientific manuscript ever sold at auction.
