#8: The U.S. Constitution First Printing (1787)
Technically a printed rather than handwritten document, this first printing of the Constitution’s final text is one of only a handful known to survive. Ken Griffin purchased it at Sotheby’s in November 2021 for $43.2 million, the highest price ever paid for a historical document at auction. Griffin subsequently loaned it for public display, where it has been seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors.
