This is David Hockney organizing colorful Polaroid snapshots of pool water next to friends in Los Angeles. This image marks an important moment in Hockney’s creativity known as “the joiners.” By combining multiple photographs into one, he challenged traditional photography, capturing movement and light in a unique way.
