#14: Diogenes of Sinope (412–323 BC)
The Greek philosopher lived in a barrel, carried a lamp in daylight “looking for an honest man,” and mocked society’s pretenses. When Alexander the Great asked if he could grant him anything, Diogenes replied: “Yes, stand out of my sunlight.” His antics, though bizarre, carried sharp critiques of human vanity.
