#8: Robert Mitchum
In Night of the Hunter (1955), Robert Mitchum portrayed a boogeyman with subtle characteristics. Many were shocked by his actual encounters with we*d authorities in 1948. His casual manner covered up a difficult upbringing on a chain gang. Mitchum was both charming and terrifying because of his confidence coming from his familiarity with the darker aspects of life.
