Rip Torn had a reputation for being chaotic despite his talent. During a filming, he famously hit novelist Norman Mailer with a hammer, saying it was for “truth.” Torn, who is remembered for acting in a very particular way, even stabbed Dennis Hopper during a fight at dinner.
