#20: The Brain Can Not Compute
We just want to say sorry in advance for confusing your brain cells this much, this early into the article. There is something about this picture, that no matter how many times you look at it, just doesn’t make any sense. Is it just me or does it look like two dimensions are trying to become one?
These pillars belong to the Jama (Jumma) Masjid in Ahamadabad, India, and have probably been confusing people for a very long time. These pillars were cut using the angular chamfering method which essentially means that they cut the right-angled edges to make a symmetrical, sloping edge. And if you just add the edge of the sharp stone, then you have yourself a real-life optical illusion.
