#15: Noise Pollution
The sound of Venice used to be footsteps, bells, boats, voices, water, and the occasional seagull behaving like a criminal. Now, in some areas, it’s suitcase wheels grinding across cobblestones and bridges at all hours. That rolling roar has become a symbol of short-stay tourism: constant arrival, constant departure, very little belonging. It sounds minor unless you live above it. Then it becomes the soundtrack of being outnumbered.
