Alan McGee’s independent imprint defined the 1990s Britpop era, releasing monumental albums from My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, and Oasis. Known for its chaotic lifestyle and legendary studio spending—including the astronomical production costs of My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless—the label ran up massive debts, forcing McGee to sell a controlling stake to Sony Music before completely closing in 1999.
