Every family seemed to have the same random smattering of kitchen magnets bedecked across their refrigerators. Part functional, part storytelling, these magnets not only held up important papers, memos, or reminders; they reflected the tempo and temperaments of each one of us as we moved through our daily lives. From family vacations to school picture day, the all-important pizza delivery magnet and the magnet you made from scratch when you were ten, what might seem humdrum is actually the byproduct of our “extraordinary, ordinary lives.” (Thank you, Richard Curtis.)
#1: The Tourist Trap Souvenir Magnet
That one vacation you all took last summer wouldn’t have been complete without the obligatory memorabilia magnet, serving as a reminder of all of those trips to the beach or steps you walked in the big city. It might be cliche, and sure, maybe you bought it from one of those sidewalk or sideroad tourist traps, but who cares? You went somewhere interesting and have the magnet to prove it.
