Waiting tables isn’t the only job a server does.
According to what we notice servers usually have nothing more than waiting at the tables and serving food to the people. Taking their orders and fulfilling them ⸺ at least it’s what we know. Whereas the job description is actually a lot more than this. Being waiters, they’re not just waiting on the tables, but are also busy dealing with grumpy customers over issues that are not even the mistakes of the waiters.
They usually work behind the scenes as well: filling the sauces, cutting lemons, rolling the silver waves, rotating the salad bars, and stuff like that. It’s not just serving food after which you leave and the job is done. Being a server is as much of an on-the-screen job as it is behind the screen.
