Even if it’s your birthday, they don’t care
It’s common for people to think that when it’s their birthday, everybody in the world owes them something and that’s why they end up going to random restaurants and asking them for something free on their birthday. But we guess they should not forget that if it’s their birthday, it does not necessarily mean that the restaurant owes them free stuff. The objective of a restaurant business is to earn profits and giving out free stuff does not fall in line with their profit motive.
But still, some places offer these birthday buddies; a free slice of cake or make their staff sing some birthday songs, which we can bet is not a pleasant thing for the staff to do as it’s not their job. After all treating strangers is a hassle in itself. A server from Portland describes this birthday thing, that if it’s your birthday and you’re out with your friends it’s your friends’ job to buy you something. Well said, haha!
