#19: Playing It “Cool” and Acting Like You Didn’t Care
The quintessential act among the lovestruck tells a tale as old as time: Play it cool to get the guy or the girl. There is something to this, in fairness, as it’s human nature for us to want what we can’t have. In more psychological terms, the concept of acting like you didn’t care capitalized on the “forbidden fruit” effect: The more out of reach something appears, the more people find themselves attracted to it (see toilet paper during the COVID-19 pandemic).
