
Thousands of retirees make the bi-annual pilgrimage to and from their seasonal abodes, earning them the beloved yet slightly contentious nickname “snowbirds.” Once quiet beach towns on both of Florida’s coasts, for example, (Midwesterners to the Gulf side and Northeasterns to the Atlantic side, more or less) become inundated with out-of-state license plates and friendly folks whose accents don’t sound like they’re from around here. But snowbirds are every bit a part of the culture these tropical getaways celebrate, which is why we thought it would be fun (and funny) to examine some of the most common spats that might erupt during that long drive down south.

He wants to leave at the crack of dawn to “beat the traffic,” and she wants to leave later so as to miss that pile up that happens during rush hour (10 hours into the journey, mind you.) A compromise usually means leaving an hour and a half later than the agreed upon time, anyway.
