#14: George VI and Queen Elizabeth
George VI married Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1923 after proposing several times before she accepted. When his brother abdicated in 1936, he unexpectedly became king. Elizabeth stood by him during World War II, appearing in public and visiting bombed areas in London. Her presence helped strengthen public morale. He struggled with a speech impediment, and she supported him through it. They had two daughters, including the future Elizabeth II. Their partnership earned respect for its sense of duty and calm leadership during a tense period in British history.
