#17: The Chains of Saint Peter
Housed within the Roman basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, these two iron chains are revered as the bonds that held Peter during his imprisonments in Jerusalem and Rome. According to fifth-century accounts, when Pope Leo I held the two separate chains close together, they miraculously fused into a single, unbreakable bond before his eyes.
