#17: A Baby Tooth Story
A baby tooth was strange enough to be fascinating and small enough to cause panic if dropped. Some children brought the actual tooth in a tiny envelope, plastic bag, or tooth-shaped container. Others brought only the story, which could be even better. It came out in an apple. It fell into the sink. Dad tied it to a string. The tooth fairy left a quarter, a dollar, or, in lucky households, more. The classroom reaction was usually mixed, with admiration and mild disgust, which is exactly the emotional range children enjoy.
