#2: A Baseball Signed by Someone Local
Not every signed baseball came from a major league legend, and that almost made it better. Maybe it was signed by a high school pitcher, a minor league player, a Little League coach, a visiting college athlete, or someone’s uncle who once “almost went pro.” In show-and-tell terms, semi-famous absolutely counted. The child would usually bring the ball in a plastic cube, an old sock, or wrapped in tissue so the signature would not smudge, then explain who signed it with the seriousness of a museum guide.
