#4: A Trophy or Ribbon
A small trophy could look enormous when carried into class. Maybe it came from bowling, soccer, dance, a spelling bee, a pinewood derby, a science fair, or a town parade contest. Ribbons had their own charm too, especially the satin kind with gold lettering and a safety pin at the top. Children brought them because wins felt bigger when they could be seen. The explanation usually involved where the competition happened, what place they got, and whether there had been snacks afterward.
