#18: Kuldhara, Rajasthan, India
In 1825, the entire population of fifteen hundred wealthy Brahmin residents vanished from this prosperous desert oasis over the course of a single night. Fleeing the tyrannical, extortionist demands of a corrupt local ruler, the villagers took only what they could carry and left behind an unshakeable curse dictating that anyone who ever attempted to inhabit the stone ruins would meet a swift, sudden death. The village remains completely abandoned to this day.
