Luis Suarez – Before
Luis Suarez, nicknamed El Pistolero (The Gunfighter), was raised by his housekeeper mother and solder father in Salto, Uruguay. His parents weren’t well-off financially, but they found ways to provide for Luis and his six siblings. Despite living in poverty for most of his youth, he claimed he enjoyed every second of it.
Like so many other kids in Salto at that time, Luis was immediately drawn to soccer. After moving to Montevideo, Luis seriously thought about becoming a professional player. His first chance at making his dream come true came when he received an opportunity to try out for the national youth team.
