Ansu Fati – Then
Ansu Fati had a pretty rough childhood. His father worked as a cab driver, while his mother worked as a housekeeper. They lived in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, which wasn’t known for producing athletic stars. However, when a military coup broke out in 2003, he and his family were forced to flee. They chose Portugal as their destination.
It was in Portugal where his family’s luck went from bad to worse, and at one point, his father had to resort to begging on the streets. All the while, Ansu focused on developing his soccer skills, and like his older brother, he started his soccer career with a local youth club.
