Developing a Long-Term Goals
There aren’t many troops who can make it home in time for the birth of their kid. To begin, the Red Cross must certify that the soldier’s leave is justified. However, it’s not as simple as it seems. After hearing that it was difficult to get men home for births, Haley practiced calling the Red Cross with Brooks, because she was told it was only effective if she was in distress.
“Brooks and I have been practicing my call to the Red Cross because we heard it was difficult to get men home for births and we were told the only way it would actually work is if I was in distress,” Haley said. They hoped Brooks would come home for Millie’s birth, but it looked unlikely.
