#10: Gravity (2013)
For anyone who dislikes heights, Gravity (2013) can feel like a very long, deep breath. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the film stars Sandra Bullock as Dr. Ryan Stone, a medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, and George Clooney as veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski. When debris destroys their shuttle, space becomes less a destination than a terrifying condition: no floor, no air, no easy direction, and very little time. The visual design keeps pulling the viewer into the silence and movement of orbit, where Earth looks close enough to touch but impossible to reach.
