#9: The Giant Sandworms – Dune (1984)
Despite this film’s love-it-or-hate-it fan divide, you can’t deny that Dune featured some pretty jaw-dropping creature design. The enormous sandworms were initially built as finely detailed models, then filmed in slow motion with sand blasts to expertly simulate their scale. Watching them erupt from the elusive sands of the desert was as terrifying as it was thrilling.
