#18: Yo-yo Water Balls
These liquid-filled elastic yo-yos stretched long distances and bounced unpredictably. Unfortunately, the stretchy cords also wrapped around kids’ necks, causing strangulation hazards. Several countries banned them outright, while U.S. recalls quietly cleared them from shelves. They remain one of the strangest fads to cause a global safety panic.
