5. Twister (1996)
This disaster film with a great cast (Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Philip Seymour Hoffman) followed storm chasers as they faced intense tornadoes. Flying cows and dramatic weather scenes characterized the film, but the main reason why it was so great to watch it in theaters was its sound. The enveloping tornadoes allowed for cinematic sound design to take it a step further, charting into unknown territories.
