Linda Evangelista Then
Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista started modeling in 1984, after signing with Elite Model Management. Her deal with the agency prompted her to move from Canada to New York City, where her career would flourish in a matter of years. The fashion industry has described Linda as being somewhat of a “chameleon,” noting how she’s able to adapt to all situations and settings seamlessly.
In 1991, Linda would set new standards for models everywhere. She negotiated a deal with Lanvin where she would receive $20,000 for promoting the fashion house’s spring and summer apparel. She would set another trend by accepting clothing from Anna Sui as a form of payment.
