Iman Then
Iman is a Somali-born supermodel who rose to prominence in the mid-1970s. After coming to the US to attend university, Peter Beard discovered the teenager, and in the next 12 months, she landed a modeling job with Vogue magazine. IT was her tall, slender stature and copper-toned skin that made people turn their heads and stare at the young Iman in awe.
During the early stages of her modeling career, Iman would also feature in films, including The Human Factor and the Oscar-winning movie Out of Africa. In 1994, she started her own cosmetic brand, which focused on making hard-to-find shades for women of every skin tone.
