Janice Dickinson Then
Janice Dickinson won a modeling beauty contest in New York City while she was still in high school. Despite having a bright future, agency after agency would reject Janice for being too “blonde and blue-eyed.” In theory, she shouldn’t have survived in the modeling world.
She would eventually sign with Wilhelmina Cooper, who would lead her to Europe where her “exotic looks” would be highly appreciated. By the 1980s, Janice reached supermodel status, appearing in some of the most well-known fashion publications in the world. This would continue well into the 1990s, but when the 2000s came around, she set her sights on greener pastures.
