Jenny Thompson
Jenny Thompson’s Olympic career, which spans over consecutive seasons starting from 1992, has been a very fruitful one. In total, she has a dozen medals dangling on her neck, eight of which are gold. Her final Olympic appearance was in 2004 at the age of 31, where she would receive two silvers.
After the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Jenny retired from competitive swimming completely. She enrolled at Columbia University and received a medical degree, becoming an anesthesiologist at a hospital in Boston and Maine. Dover, New Hampshire, where she spent the majority of her childhood, named a public swimming pool after the Olympian.
