Misty Hyman
Misty Hyman is a former Olympian and one-time gold medalist. She attended the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, where analysts expected her to place second in the 200-meter butterfly event. At the time, Australian native and former champion Susie O’Neill was expected to come out on top, but Misty would employ the use of “fish kicks on turns” to snatch the gold from under Susie’s nose.
After retiring, Misty went to Stanford to complete her undergrad studies. She’d continue to earn an MBA in Hospitality in Sweden before returning to her old high school to become the head coach. Today, she teaches private swimming lessons at the Camelback Resort and at her private swimming pool.
