Cynthia Woodhead
Cynthia Woodhead created history when she attended the 1978 World Champions at just 14 years old and took home three gold medals. In the 1984 Summer Olympics, she’d win an additional three gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle, 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and the 4×100-meter medley relay.
She would accomplish these tremendous feats while suffering through mononucleosis, a fractured leg, and pneumonia. Currently, Cynthia is enjoying the life of a retired Olympian. She no longer competes, but she spends most of her time staying physically active. She also held a coaching position at the University of Southern California for a decade before retiring.
