In Agreement
Homeowners’ associations (HOAs) often come under fire for their stringent regulations, but in our local community, the HOA operates on a more laissez-faire approach that many residents find refreshing. With an annual fee of just $100, the association’s primary focus is on maintaining the inviting landscape that greets visitors at the neighborhood’s entrance and adorning the streets with festive flags to mark national holidays.
As a resident whose home graces the very gateway to this neighborhood, I find the fee a small price to pay for the added curb appeal.

What’s more, the HOA’s lenient stance on personal expression allows for a touch of individuality; there are no exhaustive guidelines dictating yard maintenance or dictating a palette for exterior home colors. Our home, adorned with whimsical gargoyles and often illuminated by Christmas lights well beyond the holiday season, stands unchallenged by the association—a testament to the community’s embrace of diversity over conformity. The thought of facing reprimand for something as harmless as a whimsical garden ornament seems unfathomable here, where the spirit of neighborly understanding trumps rigid rule enforcement..
