#19: I Want to Hear All About It
When my kids come home complaining about a bad grade, I tell them to study harder. Teachers don’t have time to play favorites and give good grades for nothing. They just work through the stack with their rubric and get the grading done. It’s nothing personal! I bet they barely glance at the names.
Still, kids want someone to blame for their failure (don’t we all?), so they don’t have to take responsibility, and the teacher makes a good target. I try to remind them their teachers are humans, too, as I truly think they forget this 90% of the time. They must believe their teachers are robots or something.
