As kids, we feel like the teachers have it against us and try to hurt us personally by making us sit next to people who aren’t our closest friends. Of course, every kid wants to sit in class next to their best friend, but you can see why that might be problematic for the teacher. After all, classes are meant for learning – not socializing.

I’ve spent a few hours discussing seating charts with my teacher friends, and they really put a lot of thought into it. Even more so if they can sit down with the teachers from the year before and find out who the talkers in class were. I’m near positive that some schools try to split up the cliques as best as possible.
