#48: Playing it Cool
In another universe, teachers and students could be friends. But the role requires them to keep a certain distance – professional distance – from the kids. After all, they are a figure of authority, and their job is to discipline the kids – not be their friends. Even if that means not laughing at their jokes.

Sure, teachers can joke with their students from time to time – that might even help them become more likable and increase their credibility – but it’s a fine line. You want to seem cool but you don’t want to get too cozy with them. You want to remain professional and aloof. In a way, teachers have to be great actors!
